Siam Queen, Anise Basil, Thai Basil and Sweet Basil are all names for the same plant which is known for its distinctive small leaves, purple stems and purple flowers. Unlike many of its cousins, Thai Basil retains its flavor very well when cooked. It's peppery zing combined with notes of anise add interesting layers of flavor to stir fry and have earned it another moniker, Licorice Basil.
